Introduction

Since its inception in 2009, the Department of mechanical Engineering has been continuously making progress in teaching. Started with an intake of 60 students, the department has got enough faculty members. The Department follows the syllabus as per the affiliating Anna University - Coimbatore and to supplement the syllabus, Guest lectures and Industrial visits are organized by the Department. The Department is well equipped with Labs such as Thermal engineering, Fluid Mechanics and Machinery, Strength of Materials, Manufacturing Technology and Machine Tool laboratories. The Department also provides guidance to the foundry industries. The Department library is equipped with books related to latest technologies; periodicals and CD’s containing simulated diagrams. The Department also undertakes extension activities through providing short term training and faculty development programs.

To provide world-class graduate engineering education in Mechanical Engineering, with sufficient scope to include the basic and specialized engineering knowledge to meet the current and emerging needs of the society. To prepare the students for successful engineering career by inculcating the leadership, entrepreneurship qualities and professional with ethical responsibilities for the betterment of the society with a respect for diversity of opinion and culture.
