Academic Objectives
Master of Computer Applications (MCA) is a three year (six semesters) professional Master's Degree in computer science. The course was designed to meet the growing demand for qualified professionals in the field of Information Technology. It is a postgraduate course that can be taken up after obtaining a Bachelor's Degree. The MCA programme is inclined more toward Application Development and thus has more emphasis on latest programming language and tools to develop better and faster applications.
The MCA program focuses on providing a sound theoretical background as well as good practical exposure to students in the relevant areas. It is intended to provide a modern, industry-oriented education in applied computer science. It aims at producing trained professionals who can successfully meet the demands of the information technology industry.
As the IT and the software industry are dynamic and fast growing, all the programmes are designed keeping in view the requirements of industry. The programmes aim at the understanding of the fundamentals of computing among the students so that they can compete in the present-day global situation.
Students are trained in the fields of Systems Designing, Application Software Development, Enterprise Resource Planning, Computer Networks, System Administration, Web Designing and Development, Database Administration, Parallel and Vector Processing, Data Mining and Warehousing, etc.
Area of Focus
The MCA program focus students to take up positions as system analysts, systems designers, Programmers and managers in any field related to information technology. The program, therefore, aims at imparting comprehensive knowledge with equal emphasis on theory and practice.
Placement Training
Soft Skills Development
The soft skills' training is provided to all its students during the course of the MCA Program. This training also helps the students in career visioning and planning.

SEMINAR ON EMERGING TRENDS OF CLOUD COMPUTING
RESOURCE PERSON : Dr. Sitalakshmi Venkatraman
Research degrees Coordinator,
School of Science,
Information Technology and engineering,
University of Ballarat, Victoria, Australia.
WELCOME ADDRESS : Dr.T.Ramachandran, Principal,KIT
INTRODUCTION OF CHIEF GUEST : A.Anbarasi, AP/MCA/HOD
VOTE OF THANKS : R.Karthick, AP/MCA
Key note topic: Emerging Trends of Cloud Computing - With the current era of terabytes of data processing over the Internet, and the recent demand for specialised knowledge-based IT solutions required in this intelligent information age, we witness major transformations in the computing paradigms that are shifting from Web services to grid services and now towards cloud services.
Both grid and cloud services are capable of providing the facilities of high-end computational power, specialised software systems and storage resources that are increasingly on demand by organisations and even individual computer users
This talk will review the state-of-the-art of clouds that is recently seen as the utility computing over Internet of the future. By exploring the opportunities and challenges relating to clouds, the various issues involved with different types of clouds and deployment models are identified and addressed through appropriate solution models and guidelines for consumers, application developers and service providers that could facilitate in embracing the cloud service approach readily. This talk is based on research that is part of the Internet Security based projects of University of Ballarat, Australia.

SAPIENCE DEVELOPERS CLUB
The Sapience Developers club has been founded for the students, by the students, and is of the students. The Club works directly under the Control of the Head of Department MCA.
The main objective of the club is to bring out the talents hidden within each and every student of MCA department.
Students are provided with real time projects and scenarios to work on and build their knowledge through it. All students who have enrolled for MCA become a member of this club and are welcome to share their knowledge with peers.
All fridays are observed as Corporate Day / Technical Forum Day. The Club conducts events for students on all friday afternoons. The events will be related to computers and Career.
