KIT Library is fully automated with a rich collection of Books, National and International Journals, Technical and other Magazines. CDs on Engineering, other widely appreciated editions on diverse subjects like Literature, Management, etc. So that the students can evolve into excellent professionals and good cultured human beings.

This Library has approximately 17606 Documents including Books from central and department library, Journals, CDs, Project Reports, Mini Project Reports and course materials. This Library follows open access system, Bar code based circulation process and OPAC Literature Search.

The KIT Central Library has a good collection of valuable Books, and Journals.

Organization Of Library Resources

Documents are classified according to Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme and Catalogued according to Anglo American Cataloguing rules II with local modifications.

The Library offers computerized catalogue search service through OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) interface of the Library Management Software. The bibliographic records of documents available in the library can be searched through OPAC.

General Rules

  • * Perfect silence should be maintained in the Library.
  • * Group discussions, combined studies etc are strictly prohibited inside the library.
  • * Use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited inside the library.
  • * The users must enter their details in the gate register.
  • * Books and other personnel belongings should not be taken in to the library. They should be kept into the property counter.
  • * Students can enroll their names in the library on production of identity cards.
  •  * Student can borrow three books at a time.
  • * The Books should be returned on or before the due date, which is marked on the first page of the book issued. A fine of 1.00 rupee will be imposed per day for late returning of Books.
  • * All the books should be returned on the date stamped on the date label affixed on the title page of the book. Absence from college will not be an excuse for not returning the book on time.
  • * Books and periodicals should be used with care. The members will be responsible for any damages and disfigurations caused to the books borrowed by them.
  • * If a member damages or disfigures a book or periodical, he/she will have to   replace it or pay two/ three times of the cost of the article including postage etc   with in the time stipulated by the librarian. Incase one book in a set is damaged,   the whole set will have to be replaced.
  • * Reference Books, News Papers, Magazines, and Journals should not be taken out.
  • * Requirement of new books may be intimated to the librarian through the concerned HOD.
  • * The library staff is here to serve you .So does come forward and do not hesitate to   ask for any information /material you need.
  • * Each student can use the Computer in Digital Library for a period of 30 minutes only.
  • * The students will not be allowed to use their own floppies/CD.
  • * BOOKS ARE FOR ALL & FOR EVERY BOOK ITS READER. Keep it in mind before using the library. 
  • * The students should shutdown the system properly.

Working Hours : 8. 30 AM to 6. 30 PM (For all working days)

Circulation Counter Timings: 9.30 AM to 5.30PM

OPAC

Through Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) one can search for a book by either the name of the author, or subject or any word in a title or accession number of a book, or name of the publisher. The search will lead to the exhaustive as well as pinpointed search on any topic. The users can locate the call number and get the book from the shelf.

CIRCULATION

Bar Code Based Issue, Return

The-state-of-art KIT Library follows barcode based issue, return process. Bar-coding facilities are important for easy and foolproof issue, return and stock verification of library documents. For barcode issue, return process all the library documents are bar coded on the basis of its accession number. Thus the item gets issued and added to the loan account of particular member. The computer will present due date for return automatically. We can monitor entire process on computer screen.

At the same time Browne system of circulation is manually maintained.
